Welcome to Torch Valley Country Retreats. The Country Retreat is along the Torch River on the edge of the Boreal Forest. Our cabins are separated from each other by 300 meters of forest. Each cabin has its own private yard and trail to a private gazebo and dock at the river. The cabins have lots of windows so even when it’s cold you can view the birds in warm comfort. We have an extensive network of hiking trails that are well trimmed in the summer for hiking, and well groomed in winter for skiing and crossledding. We are planning to provide signage that will provide better opportunities to view birds and animals, and learn about the wide varieties of native plants and trees. Our gazebos and docks at the river provide a great opportunity to sunbath or sit in the screened-in gazebo and read. In the evening you can watch the sunset and hear the night calls of various birds and animals. You may hear thrushes, owls, whippoorwills, grouse drumming, coyotes howling, and if you are lucky, a timber wolf call. Later in the evening northern lights may give a wonderful display as a backdrop to your campfire. Guests tell us that our cabins are like a home away from home, safe, secure surroundings to unwind.
