Welcome to Torch Valley Country Retreats. The Country Retreat is along the Torch River on the edge of the Boreal Forest. Dear Valued Guests: George and I have some “big” news we want to share with you. We have sold the Lidster Farm. Our three log cabins are included in the sale. The new owners will be moving here to live and farm but do not plan to continue the operation of Torch Valley Country Retreats and cabin rentals at this time. As a result, we shall be ceasing our cabin rentals March 31, 2012 in order to prepare for the changeover. In the next few weeks, we shall be starting to make plans for our future. It is our intention at this time to continue to live in the vicinity of Nipawin and we want to be open to opportunities as they present themselves. It is an exciting time for us! We want you to know how much we have appreciated your support over the years. Feel free to contact us when you are in the area. Sincerely, Our cabins are separated from each other by 300 meters of forest. Each cabin has its own private yard and trail to a private gazebo and dock at the river. The cabins have lots of windows so even when it’s cold you can view the birds in warm comfort. We have an extensive network of hiking trails that are well trimmed in the summer for hiking, and well groomed in winter for skiing and crossledding. We are planning to provide signage that will provide better opportunities to view birds and animals, and learn about the wide varieties of native plants and trees. Our gazebos and docks at the river provide a great opportunity to sunbath or sit in the screened-in gazebo and read. In the evening you can watch the sunset and hear the night calls of various birds and animals. You may hear thrushes, owls, whippoorwills, grouse drumming, coyotes howling, and if you are lucky, a timber wolf call. Later in the evening northern lights may give a wonderful display as a backdrop to your campfire. Guests tell us that our cabins are like a home away from home, safe, secure surroundings to unwind. You can experience nature at your doorstep in all its marvelous seasons. Come and see us. We’d love to share the beauty of the natural surroundings on the edge of the wilderness with you! |
